You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for this! The moment I heard I’d get to talk about what we’re doing in our IoT company, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Honestly, sometimes there’s so much happening I don’t even know where to put my hands.
Just the other day we were chatting at work about chess. One of our team’s hardcore players mentioned these online-enabled chessboards where you move your opponent’s piece when it's their turn, guided by lights on the board.
I was like, "Wait - there’s no automatic version of this yet?!" He looked at me and said, “How exactly would that work?” And in that moment, boom - ideas started pouring in.
Imagine this: a physical chessboard where the pieces move on their own - no hands needed. Hidden springs beneath the board launch the pieces gently into the air, and magnets catch and glide them smoothly into place, mimicking your opponent’s online moves in real time. You’re playing online, but the game feels tactile, real. How cool is that? Okay, maybe it's not rocket science - but it is a Kickstarter waiting to happen, right?

Hi, I'm Yellow! I love connecting with people. I see possibilities everywhere. I’m all about energy, vision, and big ideas. I’m a natural multitasker - juggling conversations, ideas, events, and initiatives energizes me. Doing just one thing? That’s a fast track to boredom. I need variety, movement, challenge.

2. My role in IoT
When it comes to logistics - deliveries, hardware, firmware, certifications, cloud platforms, apps, data protocols, installations - just thinking about it makes my head spin. Thankfully, we’ve got brilliant people who thrive in that space. My focus is the why, the who, and the what if.
I’m usually the one asking questions that not even Blue saw coming.
You’ll find me at conferences, on panels, in meetings, in DMs, hosting workshops, giving talks, representing us in clusters, or just chatting with someone new about a wild idea. I run the social media. I build partnerships. I’m the interface between people and technology - just like a good UI. Or vodka. You choose the metaphor.
But I’m not just facing outward. Internally, I run training sessions too. Communication is a skill - not a personality trait - and I believe everyone can learn it.
And let’s be real: if you leave Blue alone with a client, the poor client might think our product is Sleep as a Service. He’s brilliant, but if you don’t speak binary, you might miss that brilliance.
My job is to extract the best of him, translate it, and share it with the world. (And truth be told, I’ve learned just as much from him in return. Our limits? Only in our heads.)
3. How to Work With a Yellow Without Losing Your Mind
It’s hard to imagine not getting along with someone like me, but just in case—here’s your Yellow User Manual:
- Start with the big picture: I need to understand the vision before we dig into the details. If I see the "why," I’m all in.
- Kill the corporate vibe: Formalities, rigid structures, or endless bullet points? Energy killers.
- I avoid conflict to keep the peace: Not because I don’t care, but because I want us to get back to good energy fast.
- Focus on solving, not blaming: I get creative when we collaborate on how to fix things.
- Speak gently: I thrive in emotionally safe spaces. Harsh tones shut me down.
- Give me a stage: I have ideas. Let me voice them - brainstorming is my playground.
- Recognize my wins: Public praise lights me up. It’s not ego - it’s fuel.
- Don’t let me spiral too much: I need help staying on track. Give me deadlines. Help me turn ideas into action with simple checklists.
- Keep it fresh: I get bored doing the same thing for too long. Let me jump between tasks or bring creative flair to routine work.
- Check in often (but casually): I don’t love status meetings, but I do love talking. Grab me for a quick chat instead.
Treat me with trust, give me space to shine, and I’ll bring energy, people, and possibility to every corner of your IoT world.
4. Why You Need a Yellow on Your Team
So what’s your takeaway after meeting Yellow? A volcano of energy, right?
Maybe a little chaotic. Definitely passionate. But without this kind of personality, our teams wouldn’t be nearly as inspired. Yellows are bridge-builders. They turn conversations into opportunities, and relationships into partnerships. They uncover problems that no dashboard ever could, because they ask questions that no engineer ever thought to. And let’s be honest: when the mood dips, the plan falters, or the project gets messy, they are the ones who still believe. Who rally the troops. Who remind us what we’re building and why it matters.
Yes, we're a tech company. Yes, most of us are engineers. And yes, Yellow might live on the opposite end of that personality spectrum. But if we want to be more than just technically brilliant, if we want to be human, connected, and visionary - we need every colour in the wheel.
